Movie Plot: Colonel Sam Trutman goes to meet his longtime friend and colleague John Rambo in Thailand. He points out that he is putting together a mercenary team for the CIA-sponsored mission to supply MujaHindian and other tribes as they try to repel Soviet fighters in Afghanistan. Despite showing pictures of civilians suffering at the hands of the Soviet army, Rambo refused to join the war. Colonel Trotman proceeds anyway and is ambushed by enemy forces near the border, resulting in the killing of all his people. Colonel Trotman has been captured and sent to a large mountain base to interrogate Soviet Colonel Zessen and his henchmen Sergeant Kaurov.
Embassy official Robert Grigs informed Rambo of the capture of Colonel Trutman but refused to approve a rescue mission for fear of drawing the United States into war. As a precaution that Trotman will die, Rambo is allowed a solo rescue on the condition that he be caught or uprooted in the event of death. Rambo immediately flees to Peshawar, Pakistan, where he intends to bring arms dealer Mausa Ghani to The Khost, the closest city to the Soviet base where Trutman has been captured.
