Movie Plot: Three years into his sentence, former United States Army Special Force John Rambo is visited by his longtime commander, Colonel Sam Trutman. With the Vietnam War, the public is worried over the news that a small group of U.S. POWs have been left in enemy custody. To reject their demands for action, the U.S. government has authorized a single intrusion mission to confirm the reports. Rambo agreed to perform the operation in lieu of pardon. They are taken to meet Marshall Murdock, a government official overseeing the operation. Rambo has been temporarily reinstated in the U.S. army and will only be received by a better equipped extraction team upon their return because a potential camp has not been instructed to find a picture and rescue any prisoners or engage enemy personnel.
During his insertion, Rambo’s parachute gets tangled and broken, causing him to lose most of his guns and most of his equipment, leaving him with a knife and his bow and arrow. He meets his assigned contact, a young intelligence agent named Co-Bao, who arranges a local river pirate band to dislodge them.
