Movie Plot: Former Episcopal priest Graham Hayes (Mel Gibson) lives in a remote farm with his asthmatic prone son, Morgan (Rory Kalkin) and younger daughter, Bo (Abigail Breslin). Graham’s younger brother, Merrill (Joquin Phoenix), a failed minor league baseball player, has been living on the farm since Coleen died in a traffic accident six months ago, shown in a series of flashlights. Graham has since lost his religious faith and abandoned the church.
Large crop cycles appear in the corn area of Hayes, which are initially responsible for vandals. Soon after, other crop cycles, eventually set as navigational guides, appear globally, and light up from invisible objects on Mexico. One night, Graham and Merrill chase a long dark figure who disappears into the fray. Graham later sees each other between corn stalks, and hears strange clicking noises in the monitor of Bo’s old baby. In Brazil, an alien is filmed during a baby birthday party.
