Movie Plot: In 1947, Portland, Maine, banker Andy Dofres was convicted of murdering his wife and her boyfriend and sentenced to two consecutive life imprisonments at the Shashank State Penitentiary. She Ellis “Red” A prisoner who is jailed by Redding and a prison smuggler is serving a life sentence. Red sits a rock hammer and a large poster of Rita Hyworth for Andy. The prison laundry work is tasked, often to Andy. “The Sisters” and is raped by their leader, Boggs.
In 1949, Andy complained of a legacy tax ingessing to Guards captain Byron Hadley and offered to help them legally shelter the money. After an attack by the sisters, Andy beat Hadley and killed the crippled boggs, who were later transferred to another prison; Andy has not been attacked again. Warden Samuel Norton meets Andy and sends them to the prison library to assist elderly prisoner Brooks Hadton. Andy starts managing financial affairs for other prison staff, other prison guards and self wardens. He also started writing weekly letters to the state legislature requesting funds to improve the prison’s decaying library.
