Movie Plot: A man calls himself Rider’s Highjack Pelham 123, the New York City Subway 6 train that departed from Pellham Bay Park Station at 1:23 p.m. Rider is accompanied by three other heavily armed men: Baskin, Emery and former train operator Phil Ramos. They stop the car ahead of the rest of the train and take the passengers hostage. Employees of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority are working as a train dispatcher at the Walter Garber Rail Control Centre and receive a ransom call from rider, who demands a $10 million cash payment within 60 minutes. Rider warned that after every minute deadline they force him to wait, he will execute a mortgage.
Bashkin kills a plain man, a New York City Transit police officer who approached him after identifying him that something was wrong. He and Ramos then do not let all the passengers get into the front car except the front. Garber reluctantly interacts with Rider and develops a rapport, while Ramos and Emery established internet access in the tunnel. Rider uses its laptop to see Dow Jones’ industrial average that dunks nearly 1,000 points during the next hour in response to hostage-taking.
