Seok-woo, a divorced fund manager, is an improvised and absent father for his young daughter Su-a. For her birthday she asks her father to take her to Busan to see her mother. The next day, he boarded the KTX 101 at Seoul station. Other passengers include Sang-hwa and his pregnant wife Seong-kyong, a high school baseball team, wealthy and arrogant COO Yon-souk, elderly sisters-in-law and John-Gill and a traumatic homeless man.
As soon as the train leaves, a conscious young woman rides on the train with a bite wound to her leg. He turns into a zombie and attacks a train attendant, who also turns. The virus spreads rapidly throughout the train as soon as other passengers are attacked. Baseball player Yong-Guk, cheerleader Jin-hee, who has a crush, and many passengers run away from another car and close the doors. News Broadcast reported a nationwide zombie outbreak ( reported as riots). After the train stops at the Diazon station, the remaining passengers discover the city and the station, and they quickly get back into the train, and rush into different train cars. The conductor takes the train back to Busan, where a quarantine area has reportedly been established.
